YURLEY BENITEZ

“You belong to sports ! Prepare, don't stop learning, be curious, and be a little bit of a rebel.”

Meet Yurley Benitez Rodriguez, AISTS (International Academy of Sport Science and Technology) Sports Management Masters Student. Yurley is a sports enthusiast, Colombian, lawyer and advocate for elevating the women's game!

LATINO WOMEN BELONG IN SPORTS

“I hope to inspire many Colombian little girls with my journey. I want to say that women - latino women - belong to the sports industry, we can take leadership roles and break stereotypes.”

THE POWER OF ADVOCACY

“The 2019 Women's World Cup and all the USWNT movement of equal pay, was incredible. The athletes raised their voices and got the entire world on their side to get equal payment, and become an inspiration for other national women athletes to do the same and take action.”

WOMEN’S SPORTS ARE EVOLVING

“What I can see in contemporary themes surrounding women in sports is that there is a significant shift underway; women’s sports are no longer relegated to the sidelines, or seen as mere charity cases. Women's sports are evolving and perceived as a real business. Athletes and women in leadership roles are emerging as true trailblazers that embody strength.

The kick- off of The Nü 女 league in Shanghai China, during the fall of 2021 was a blast. The League I co-founded and worked for finally came to reality; that Sunday was a total success, 13 female teams playing, so many women from all different backgrounds and supporters showing up and vibing around football. It is a day that I will never forget. My coaches and my team - Candelaria F.C -  were there and they influenced my path.”

SURROUNDED BY INSPIRING WOMEN

“All women in my life have inspired my path - starting from my mom, mis amigas, mis hermanas, my colleagues, classmates, teammates and mentors. I have been so lucky to be surrounded by such badass women that inspired, elevated and celebrated me, which has been so fulfilling.”
