LÍVIA SILVA KÄGI

“Women know their own needs and struggles. To be able to have a say and deciding power in defining strategies and plans to promote other women in the industry, they must occupy such positions.”

Meet Livia Silva Kägi, a Brazilian sports lawyer active in the field for over a decade, former member of the FIFA Players' Status Department, and since 2021 an independent consultant at Silva Kägi Law. Also, she currently holds the position of Deputy Chairwoman of the FIFA DRC, being the first woman to occupy such a position.

ADVOCATING FOR WOMEN

“I believe men can play a role in advocating for women in sports by taking a step back, and letting women tell their own stories. Men can help by not taking over any decision-making roles in women's organisations, and using their own established platforms to promote their female colleagues.“

WHAT STORY ARE YOU HOPING TO TELL

“I would like to tell the story of how believing in yourself, joining forces with other women and acting strategically, with competence and integrity, can open doors you would never imagine possible for you. I would like to definitely leave behind the narrative that women are distrusting of each other and not able to truly connect and support one another.”

ADVICE & INSPIRATION

“A good education, hard work, networking, and mutual support among women are the keys to sustainable success. I am very much inspired by Honey Thaljieh, Erika Montemor, Martina Spreitzer-Kopriunik, Marisa Dominguez Rubio and Melanie Schärer, who are all very intelligent, competent, strategic and resilient women, and also pioneers of new projects and ideas.”

A PIVOTAL ROLE IN YOUR JOURNEY

“Honestly, my most important reference is myself: where I came from, where I am and where I can possibly go. I have many women whom I admire, but each has their own path which cannot be compared or strived for, as realities differ greatly.”
