GAME MOTHIBI

“Through playing Table tennis, and later becoming an administrator, I discovered my voice and built confidence, realising that sports could be a powerful tool for personal development, advocacy, and building connections”

🇩🇪 Meet Game Mothibi, whose journey has taken her from Botswana to Frankfurt, Germany, where she pursues her passion in sports administration. She is the proud mother of her energetic and curious 11-year-old, Abale. Guided by the resilience of her late mother, Reverend Malebogo, she is now the Senior Manager at TAFISA - The Association For International Sport for All, Co-Founder of the Women Sport Africa Network-WSAN, and a Global Executive Board Member - Africa Rep at IWG Women & Sport.

A MEANINGFUL IMPACT

“My experience showed me the transformative power of sports, which cater to various talents and preferences, and inspired me to pursue a career in sports administration and women and sport advocacy. Sports became my calling, where I could make a meaningful impact and help others find their place and voice just as I did.”

TRADITIONAL METHODS OF STORYTELLING

"Storytelling and representation in media amplify underrepresented voices, challenge stereotypes, and inspire participation regardless of background. However, many women working for NGOs and Sport for Development organisations in rural areas lack access to digital platforms to share their impactful stories, despite their heroic efforts in challenging environments. Using traditional methods of storytelling and collaboration between media organisations, sports entities, and communities are crucial for identifying untold stories and creating a more inclusive sports media landscape."

A PASSION FOR GENDER ADVOCACY

"My mother's journey to become a Pastor, despite facing scrutiny and challenges due to her gender and being a single mother, sparked my curiosity and activism at a young age. Inspired by her resilience and encouragement to use my voice, this experience ignited my passion for gender advocacy in sports. It shaped my journey to study and gain experience in the field and become a mentor to encourage more girls and women to have a voice. I’m also instilling this in my 11 year old daughter Abale who is already a powerhouse of energy and curiosity."

THE POWER OF SPORTS

"Hey future women sport administrators! Get ready for a thrilling journey filled with challenges, triumphs, and unforgettable moments. Remember, sports can lift you up, connect you with your tribe, and empower you to make a lasting impact—so lace up your sneakers and soar because it is worth it! With experienced mentors by your side, there’s no limit to what you can achieve in breaking barriers and paving the way for a brighter future in sports, and for the next generation of aspiring women. We are in this together."
