DISMANTLING BARRIERS

“There is often a significant lack of diversity in leadership roles within sports organisations, perpetuating a cycle of exclusion. By implementing policies and initiatives that promote the inclusion of diverse candidates in leadership positions—such as mentorship programs, diversity quotas, and targeted recruitment efforts—these barriers can be dismantled.”

DIVERSITY MAKING A POSITIVE IMPACT

“The International Cricket Council’s 100% Cricket Leadership Programme brought together individuals from diverse backgrounds, and cultures, all united by a common passion for cricket and for promoting female leadership in sports. The diversity within the group was a catalyst for innovation and inclusive decision-making. Each person’s unique perspective contributed to richer discussions.

Additionally, my involvement in the SIGA Women Global Mentorship Programme opened doors to global initiatives and provided me with a wealth of insights and best practices. These programs create a supportive platform where women can share their experiences, address their concerns, and celebrate their successes.”

THE PURSUIT OF KNOWLEDGE KNOWS NO BOUNDS

“I have trained myself in management, administration, and communications principles. Maintaining a purpose-driven approach and setting clear goals is instrumental in achieving success. Moreover, my mother has been an unwavering source of inspiration in my life. She has championed my story and instilled in me the belief that the pursuit of knowledge knows no bounds. She taught me the importance of embracing a mindset of lifelong learning and the value of seeking guidance from others to acquire knowledge and seize opportunities for personal and professional development.”

ADVICE TO A YOUNGER RICHA

“If I could go back and talk to myself, I would say, ‘It’s OK to have multiple purposes and aspirations.’ The key is to have a plan and a timeline for how and when to achieve them. I would reassure myself that I can shine in all the places I want to shine; no one is stopping me. I should not eliminate myself in my own head before even trying something new.”
