WITNESSING THE POWER OF SPORT

“One of the most impactful experiences that shaped my perspective on sports was my participation as a volunteer at the 2023 Special Olympic Games in Berlin. It was a moment where I witnessed firsthand how sports transcend any limitations or barriers that one might associate with disability. It showed me that when someone pursues their dreams with energy and passion, they can achieve anything they set their mind to.”

BETHANY HAMILTON - AN INSPIRATIONAL ROLE MODEL

“Bethany Hamilton, an American surfer, has become a role model of resilience. After surviving a shark attack in 2003, she demonstrated immense courage and determination with her inspiring motto: ‘Courage means you don’t let fear stop you.’ Her example continues to motivate many people to face their own challenges without being overwhelmed by fear.”

DIVERSITY IN SPORTS

“Barriers and limitations exist all around us, both physically and in terms of awareness and empathy. When the necessary resources are available—such as adapted equipment, accessible transportation, qualified personnel to support athletes, institutional backing, and projects promoting sports—we can talk about sports inclusively, not just in terms of inclusion.”

PROMOTING DIVERSITY IN SPORT

“The media play an essential role in giving visibility to the experiences, challenges, demands, and dedication of people with disabilities in the world of sports. Creating this visibility means bringing attention to a reality that exists and has been hidden for too long. Allowing each of these athletes to raise their voices and share their experiences and triumphs is not only an achievement for them but also a way to continue raising awareness, educating society, and inspiring others who may be in similar situations to find their desired lifestyle through sports.”

INCLUSION IN SPORT

“I would like to continue supporting projects that highlight the role of sports in improving quality of life, whether personally or professionally, for anyone dedicated to it. To me, one of the most necessary changes in the world of sports today is to begin blurring the line that separates sports based on whether a person has a disability. In sports, we all participate with our best abilities, and, in most cases, disabilities are not inherent to the individual but rather a result of their environment. When the necessary resources are made available to practise sports, the concept of disability begins to fade.”
