LISA GETZ

"Listen to the stories and support the promotion of women in sport—without comparison—while keeping in mind the messaging and norms that society has imposed on women for years."

Meet, Lisa Getz, an avid trail runner who encourages everyone to push their physical and mental limits through sport. She is an American living in Lausanne and works in Clean Sport Education at the International Testing Agency, after having spent 11 years living in Beijing."

GET PAST THE NEGATIVE SELF-TALK

"In 2011, while training for my first marathon, I watched an endurance trail race and noticed the lack of women at the starting line. I told my then-partner, 'I’d love to do that, but I’m not that strong.' In 2022, I stood at the starting line, crossed the finish, and was one of just 138 women among 1,500 finishers. Running became my way of feeling in control of the challenges I set for myself when surrounded by so many other things beyond my control. Despite the negative self-talk telling me I wasn’t strong enough, I pushed through and gained confidence. I can, and will, come out on the other side, most likely not as the person I thought I’d be, but I’ve grown increasingly happy with the core essence of who I am. And honestly, it’s thanks to sport."
