“Trust in your abilities, nurture your passion, and let your voice be heard. Your journey in sports is not just about personal achievement; it's about paving the way for future generations of women to thrive and succeed.”

Meet Janet Motah, one of the leading youth mentors in the intersection of sports and women empowerment who played a key role in the success of the Bundesliga youth ambassador project in Kenya. She is the Education and Livelihood Coordinator at Moving the Goalposts and serves as a Sport for Development ambassador in Kenya.

INFLUENTIAL SPORT EVENTS

“Festival19 in France, hosted alongside the Women's World Cup in 2019 in Paris was a celebration of women's football and provided a platform for showcasing the talent and passion of female athletes around the world. Witnessing the energy and enthusiasm of the participants and supporters alike was incredibly inspiring.

The Discover Football Festival in 2023 in Berlin, championed the visibility of women in sports and brought together female athletes, coaches, and advocates from diverse backgrounds. It was empowering to engage in discussions, workshops, and matches with women who share a common goal. These experiences deepened my commitment to advocating for women's participation and recognition in sports, highlighting the transformative power of sports in fostering inclusion and empowerment.”

PERSPECTIVES SHAPED BY CULTURAL HERITAGE

“The Bundesliga Youth Ambassadors Project in Kenya brought together professionals from various cultural backgrounds to tackle a global sports initiative. Each young leader brought unique perspectives and approaches shaped by their cultural heritage, which enriched our discussions and decision-making processes. This diversity of thought not only fostered creativity and innovation but also promoted a deeper understanding and appreciation of different perspectives within the sport for development sector. It reinforced the importance of inclusivity in driving positive change and achieving collective goals.”
